Late nights. Discarded designs. That's a great idea. Most high school seniors agree that the authorization attachment is the hardest part of a college application. The Gazette asked the students First-Year to reflect on them - the writing, inspiration, handwrench - and the teachings learned.
I stayed really late when my inhibitions were down, so I could write without being self-critical and brainstorming ideas. I probably walked around 20 ideas, narrowed them to five, wrote five five, and then counted one and edited and edited and edited and edited until I was done. Every day, write the essay were stressful. I wrote about the transition from independence from the interdependence and my personal growth, which was catalyzed by the divorce of my parents. I was reflected on my early independence as a child and how it turns into dependence on other people, depending on other people working together in teams, and leading people to achieve important things in our community.

I remember clearly to write my Harvard essay on Thanksgiving on my phone. The inspiration came straight in waves, while I condemned time with my family. For my essay, I wrote about being an athlete and find after athletics by applying you to school. In the eighth grade I broke my femur, and I wrote about overcoming that. Then I tore in my older year of high school my UCLs in both hands playing football. [This experience] brought me back to the process of rehabilitation by injury. I find my identity afterwards. I'm rather a math and numbers type, and I probably went three or four ideas before I found it.

I wrote about life in Milan when I was younger and how it opened my eyes to other perspectives, and brought me to be so fast to judge other people. In Central and High Schools, I lived back in my small town in the USA and missed these interactions that helped me to grow, so I also wrote that I wanted to visit Harvard because I wanted to experience the different perspectives again. Many people say that they have to write down their entire life story, but many words they have given, but they can highlight a really essential aspect of their identity. A story about telling about that it is much more compelling than trying to adapt everything into it.
When I started with the middle school, my mother went back to college. She emigrated from Venezuela and worked in her own convenience store for 17 years. When she started college, I took over the role to edit her essays. In my essay, I wrote about help for help and how she inspires me to ask for help because she had the courage to ask her young daughter for help. It was so emotional to write. The first time when I asked my mother to read it, I have freaked out because she said she did not know if she liked it. She thought it was too much about her.
